About the NISM V-A exam

The NISM Series V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination is mandatory for anyone selling or distributing mutual funds in India. It covers fund structure and regulation, scheme information and selection, NAV and expense ratios, taxation, investor services, and the distributor's own obligations.

The exam has 100 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each, a duration of 120 minutes, and a passing score of 50% — the most forgiving of the common NISM certifications. There is no negative marking, so never leave a question blank. The fee is Rs 1,500 and the certificate is valid for 3 years, renewable through CPE.
